SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS
At 07:30am we’ll depart for the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We’ll stop en route to see the Vilcanota River snake around the patchwork crops. Our first stop will be the colorful market of Pisac, where you’ll explore local merchants and artisans and purchase any souvenirs which catch your interest. Then, we’ll bus up the hill to the Pisac Archeological Site, one of the important fortresses which protected the imperial capital. During the short ascent you’ll be able to observe spectacular Incan agricultural terraces. The archeological site of Pisac comprises different sectors: Qanturaquay, Intihuatana or Solar Clock, and Tanqanamarka, the largest pre-Columbian cemetery in South America. We will continue towards Urubamba for a buffet lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards, we’ll visit Ollantaytambo, considered a living Inca town because it has been continually inhabited but still preserves its original Incan urban planning, as well as structures, agricultural terraces, and reservoirs serving as testaments to the past. One of the most outstanding features is the rose granite monoliths joined together with impressive perfection. Then we continue to our last stop, Chinchero local town known for their ancestral techniques to work the wooll We visit the archeological site and return to Cusco at 18:30 approx.
