Day 1: CUSCO – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES
At 10:00 am you’ll be picked up at your hotel, and taken to the Ollantaytambo train station to catch the train to Aguas Calientes (Expedition Service). In route, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas with its snow-covered peaks and Incan agricultural terraces. Nearing the town, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, the Andean landscape will change and show the lush exuberance of the jungle brow and the Vilcanota River.You’ll be taken to the hostel upon arriving at the small and colorful town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: MACHU PICCHU – HUAYNA PICCHU
On this day, we’ll visit one of the world’s most evocative sites: Machu Picchu Archeological Complex. Very early, we’ll board the bus to the Inca citadel. The 2-hour guided visit is an unforgettable experience, as our professional guide will recount history enveloping this mysterious and enchanting site. The tour explains the origins behind this awe-inspiring citadel and the most prominent landmarks among the 200 or so buildings such as the monumental Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and the Burial Grounds.
After the guided visit, it’s time to climb Huayna Picchu Peak, which takes about 45 minutes to ascend and the same to descend, and must be reserved in advance, It is entirely worth it, as it affords a view overlooking Machu Picchu citadel in its entirety. (If you are interested in climbing Huayna Picchu, please advise upon making you tour reservation, as permits are only sold along with the Machu Picchu tickets, and spaces are very limited. Then you’ll have free time to explore independently or relax and soak up the site’s ambience. At the appropriate hour, we’ll descend by bus back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch. By 18:00 you’ll catch the return Expedition train back to Ollantaytambo station in the Sacred Valley, where your transfer will be waiting to take you back to Cusco.
